We finally had some rain late yesterday afternoon. One of the things we love about where we live is we often get great rainbows. When we have these afternoon rain storms the sun sets to the West behind our house and we face East toward the Sandia Mountains. The rain often goes up the valley between us and the mountains and, when it does, we get great rainbows.
This one was a full rainbow where we could see it all from end to end. Like this one, they often are double rainbows. I wish I had a wide-angle lens for my camera so I could catch the whole rainbow, but I don't and probably never will.
Rainbows always lift our spirits as they're a reminder of God's promises, especially the promise He made that He would no longer judge the world through floods like the one Noah and family sailed through on the ark.
In closing, let me give you an old Irish blessing:
May God give you...
For every storm a rainbow,
For every tear a smile,
For every care a promise,
And a blessing in every trial.
For every problem life sends,
A faithful friend to share,
For every sigh a sweet song,
And an answer for every prayer.
For every storm a rainbow,
For every tear a smile,
For every care a promise,
And a blessing in every trial.
For every problem life sends,
A faithful friend to share,
For every sigh a sweet song,
And an answer for every prayer.

Beautiful poem.
I remember appreciating that same view every time rain fell.
Now we live BEHIND the mountains and the rainbows aren't as dramatic.
But everything else is still New Mexico Beautiful.
I'm enjoying your blog, fellow New Mexico neighbor and look forward to visitng again.
Beautiful pic, Dad!
Why won't you ever have the lens? You're such a great photographer--go for the lens!
Beautiful poem and rainbow.
Mike Tyson, professional ear biter... I wonder if that's how he introduces himself these days?
Great poem. We humans are either happy with the "simple" things, and blessed, or we are looking beyond this current joy and never quite fully happy. mark
I took a picture of that very same rainbow, but about 90 miles south of your place.
